Snow Part I

I woke up a little after 5:30am and noticed that it was very quiet. We live across the street from the hospital, 5 min from the airport and 10 minutes from the train tracks, not to mention in an apartment complex full of noisy people, so there is usually always some noise. Not this morning. There was also an unusual amount of light coming in through the window for before 6am. Before my brain had a chance to put it all together, Chad came in and announced: "We got 6 inches!" (it was really only about 4) Ah, snow. It has an amazing ability to make the world look beautiful and sound peaceful... especially in a southern coastal town that never sees snow. Chad was heading into work early so he could finish his pre-rounds in time to come home and play with us in the snow before having rounds with his attending. Snow and family - a perfect day.

I missed it, but Chad and our neighbor said Sakura's face lit up like Christmas morning when she saw the snow.

Then she realized it's cold and wet and quickly lost her enthusiasm.

Chad had great fun having a snowball fight with the neighbor boy, and admired the snowman he and his mom had built before we even made it outside.

Happy's favorite thing is to chase snowballs and eat them when she catches them.

I love how silly Happy looks hopping through the "chest-deep" snow like a bunny, ears flopping behind her.

Sakura just wanted to play on the swing and was very impatient about it. It was still cold and wet, and not as much fun as she thought. But she enjoyed it for a little while.

Hopefully this video will load because it is too funny! Chad took the camera for a while and was getting a video of all of us out there. He came over by the swings, and slipped on the slope hidden under the snow while he was still filming! He totally biffed it, landing flat on on his back with his head in the snow and his feet in the air. Luckily, the soft snow cushioned his fall and we all got a great laugh out of it. Hilarious! I've tried 3 times to load the video though, and no dice, so... we'll see. Let me know if it works or not.
