Circus 2010

We went to the circus last year as part of the Azalea Festival and were planning on going again this year, as soon as Chad had time for it. We got a call last evening from my friend Shalissa who said she had 3 tickets for the circus for that night (in 2 hours) and if we wanted them, come and get them. So Chad ditched his presidency meeting (Sorry EQ!) and we went. :) It was great! I liked it last year, but this year was even better. For one, we had better seats. Since our seats were free, we paid $3 a piece to upgrade to better ones, and they were definitely better! For another, I think Sakura enjoyed it much more this time. And thirdly - we got to ride an elephant! It's funny because we only bought a ticket for Sakura to ride, but she started crying for Mommy and they were in a hurry to get things moving, so they told me to hop on. Chad grabbed the camera, assured me the baby would be fine, and up I went - 3 for the price of 1. ;) Sakura loved it! As soon as we stepped off the stairs, she turned and started to head back up! Good thing it was intermission and we didn't have much time before the show started again. I think Chad's favorites were the elephants and the tigers - animal tricks are pretty cool! Sakura's favorites were definitely the trapese artists (it's basically a swing, right? and she loves that!), the hoop/ribbon dancers (pretty costumes and again with the swinging), and the motorcycle stunts! Nice and loud and exciting! I liked the dog tricks - especially since there was one dog who just wouldn't listen very well and really made the whole thing rather funny. The dogs were supposed to ride a pony in one trick, and this dog loved it - but was totally distracted by the pony's mane and tail and ribbons, and kept biting at them and ignoring his commands. Not what they were going for, but the audience sure got a kick out of it. :) Sakura was up 2 hours past bedtime, and was still totally wired from all the fun and excitement. So now she's sleeping in! Yay! So thank you thank you thank you so much Shalissa for thinking of us! It worked out perfectly because it rained all night and now the fairgrounds will be all muddy and we don't have to slosh through it like we did last year. :) Yay! (Oops... I forgot maintenance was coming by this morning! Gotta go!)
