A Pretty Pink Princess Party

Sakura is turning 5 on Thursday and she had her first all girl birthday party yesterday! We had dress ups for the girls to wear, did hair, nails and makeup - including crowns and necklaces of course. While the girls were waiting their turn to be beautified, they did a simple paper craft - gluing colored squares on cardstock to make pictures. When everyone was done, we put on a Sleeping Beauty short movie while the food was laid out. Then on to the food and the cupcakes and then presents! We put the second movie short on after that for the girls to watch while they waited for their parents to come pick them up. It was a good party and Sakura kept telling me how wonderful it was and how much fun she was having and how much she loved me. :) She received a TON of gifts, and was extremely gracious and genuinely excited about each and every one. What a precious little girl!

I did hair, Julie did makeup and our current nanny Ashley did nails

all the little princesses watching the movie

the Pink spread - Sakura only had the cupcakes and punch :(

pink pinwheels - homemade pink tortillas with cream cheese/roasted red pepper filling

pink potato salad - pink-making ingredient: beets. Delish!!!

pink pasta - alfredo sauce tinted pink (dying the noodles pink did not work)

Rainbow cupcakes with fresh strawberry frosting and rainbow sprinkles

Of course Sakura thinks the party means it was her actual birthday and she takes great pleasure in telling everyone how she is now 5. I've tried explaining it to her, but she just doesn't get it. :)
And tomorrow Seth turns 2! Poor kid doesn't have any friends so we're not throwing him a party. I'm going to make him Lightning McQueen cupcakes and we bought Mater hats to wear, and of course gifts, but that's it. There's not even going to be much of a family party - Lanae's birthday was the 18th and she's having her extended family party Monday night as well. Good thing Seth is only 2 and doesn't really care!
